A Thanksgiving Day Medley

Across the Atlantic Ocean,
A long time ago,
Came Pilgrims on the Mayflower,
A New World to know.
Freedom of religion
Was what they sought;
Starvation and illness
Were problems they fought.

But the people worked together,
And friendly Indians taught
These Pilgrims how to live
In the new land they got.

So it wasn’t long
Before you could hear:
We’ve made it through
This first hard year!
Now let’s have a feast
To thank the Lord dear –
A great Thanksgiving Day!

To Grandfather’s house we go;
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh,
Through the white and drifted snow.

And straight through the barnyard gate,
We seem to go extremely slow,
It is so hard to wait!

Now, Grandmother’s cap I spy!
Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!
