FLOREN MCDONALD LEBARON
The Last Farewell
IN MEMORIAM

“THE BEST IS YET TO COME!”
(My Uncle Floren’s favorite saying)
~~~
On February 17, 2019,
Two months before his 92nd birthday,
Floren McDonald LeBaron
Left this earthly helm
To join his family
In a heavenly realm.
 Fourth youngest of thirteen children,
Floren was my favorite uncle,
A one-of-a-kind.
They broke the form
When he was born.
Often I write about the
Dark sides of the Mexico-LeBarons.
But I loved, still love my uncles—
Even Evil Ervil.
Though I grieve
The ruined lives
ErVile left in his wake,
This criminally-insane miscreant
Schizophrenia did create.
Why don’t we stop loving sinners,
Though their evil
Turns us inside-out
In seismic somersaults
That churn us about?
‘Cause we all have
Good sides and bad.
Some people lean more
To one side than the other.
But we don’t forget good deeds
Done by a brother.
We try to reconcile the bad,
Wishing it weren’t so;
But can’t condemn the ignorant
And the mentally-off foe …
Compassion won’t let us
And Hope springs eternal.
So we try to understand,
Show where they went wrong;
Rant against their misdeeds
Our whole life long.
But in Judgment’s seat
Creatons don’t belong.
God’s the final Judge
Of our song.
Says niece Vicki:
“My father-in-law Floren believed
Most people are good most of the time,
All people are good part of the time,
So we need to give people a chance
To prove themselves
All the time!
“Floren wasn’t prejudiced:
He saw the best in everybody,
Treated everyone as an equal,
Believed in repentance,
And gave everybody
The benefit of the doubt.”
My Uncle Floren loved
To cheer people up.
He knew he would get a smile
When he said:
“I hope for the best,
Look for the worst,
And take what comes …
With a grain of salt –
For the best is yet to come!”
*Till then
And till we meet again,
R.I.P.
My unforgettable
Uncle Floren.
  1. Thanks for this compassionate and informative tribute to Floren. I last saw him in Mexico when I went to visit Irene and Charlotte. He was sociable, happy and humorous and our visit was pleasant. I had no idea he had died until I found your post.
    Being an “apostate” where polygamy is concerned, I’m not on the list to receive family news.
    I love what you are doing. I love your compassion, your wisdom and your deep heartfelt desire to free the minds of those born, raised and converted to the ignorance and bondage of polygamist cultures
    Keep up the good work
    1. Thanks so much, Rebecca, for this feedback and for taking your time to leave this well-written comment. I will prize it forever as I also prize your contacting me and giving me some of your precious time on the phone yesterday.
      Thank you for your encouragement. It was just what the doctor recommended. You are a pillar to society, especially to those who have fled Mormon fundamentalism and polygamy … though many of them aren’t even aware of this because they have shut themselves off from being informed on the topic.
      I am ever amazed at how well-informed you have made yourself, and in so doing, you have made others, such as me, far more aware and informed—more than you will ever know.
      My love and appreciation for you knows no bounds. Here’s wishing you all the best in accomplishing your present goals you shared with me so abundantly last night on the phone.
      Take care and I look forward to more correspondence and talks with you when you are able to eek out the time between all your other services to help humanity; including your beloved family.
